Originally built in 1906, the Highland Dell Hotel in Monte Rio, California was a popular destination resort for San Francisco and Bay Area families. Shortly after the Russian river flooded the first floor in the early 21st Century, RKI was approached to reconstruct the interiors.
The attic revealed some old panels with an original color scheme. The lobby was an inspiration for the remodel of the hotel. What is thought to be carpentry work from original Russian immigrants that traded along the North Coast became an inspiration for the designs.
The new reception desk was created using the flattened column motif on the walls and the balcony. The wall panel design was also used in the upstairs hallways and rooms. New bathrooms were created using historic tiles and pedestal sinks.
