OLD PALO ALTO
FAMILY RESORT
A couple with four children commissioned a home in Palo Alto. Through relatives in Santa Barbara, they had come to appreciate the early California Revival style of architecture. Our goal was to to reinterpret the traditional style with a more contemporary interior. We decided to tie the expansive open floor plan together using natural floor materials with a light color palette. Jerusalem gold was used throughout the ground floor. Cork was chosen for the lower level media / recreation / kitchen area. Hardwood was featured on the upper, bedroom level. Color accents were introduced through tribal rugs and artwork. These items also helped define different living areas. All rooms were networked, including multi-media connections.
